Originally constructed circa 1918, this commercial building underwent numerous owners and structural alterations before being slated for a historic renovation. The finalized design transformed the space into 51 unique apartment and loft units targeted toward millennial college students. The design preserved the existing shell with minimal structural interference and utilized the tall interior spaces to create an industrial aesthetic.
As project lead, my responsibilities spanned the entire project lifecycle, ranging from initial design and client presentations to comprehensive team, consultant, construction management and being the primary liaison for city permitting. To navigate the challenges of a historic building with undocumented structural changes, we implemented rigorous code analysis and ensured exceptionally detailed architectural drawings.
